I forgor #11💀
Hi everyone, and welcome back to the check-ins! This week, I stopped development on the basketball flashback. Why you ask? I've been asked (by my team lead) to animate the end flashback, an important flashback. So I'm back to learn body anatomy, along with running around to my team lead and lead 2D artist. We had to figure out how the mom was going to die, since it couldn't be too graphic. Obviously, my first idea of how she died got shot down (too graphic). Anyways, we decided on an implied death scene, so it shows no human dying. Just a monster. Well that's all for this week. I know it's not much, but you gotta remember that I'm just the writer. Hi everyone, and welcome to a blog post outside of my mandatory posts. Today, I will be talking about map development. If you've been following my updates for Unreality, you would know I've been creating maps for a while. Well, this post is kind of a reflection on map developing and techniques that I used to help me make my maps. Things I'd Done:Base Sketch:To start, I created one big map. It marked the boundaries, roads, and the different areas of the campsite. I marked off areas so I could complete them separately and go more into depth. Talk with Teammates:While I was creating the maps for Unreality, I had to stay in contact with my other members; mainly the 3D modeler(s) and programmer(s). Since they were the ones who were making the assets and designing the terrain, I had to stay in touch with them to see how and what needed to be incorporated. Reflection:I was assigned this because I had nothing much to do (I'm the writer lol), so I first walked into it like "ok, maybe this will take me a week or two to finish." No it did not. Every time I learned something new, for example how roads work, I had to learn something else related right after. I took me a week to learn basic driving skills of Canadians just to place road signs, then I found out that Canadians use more signs than us. So what do I have to do? Learn Canadian road signs. Then there was road sign placement. At that point, I used the first (official) guide I found online, which was American-based. Both styles are similar, and I hope Canadian drivers won't see it as a mistake.
Anyways, enough about me ranting. Overall, good god it takes longer than you think. So much research has to go into it- from learning about the terrain to learning about human interaction in there. Human interaction being things like infrastructure, buildings, etc. Wow everyone! We're on the tenth post already!
Guess what? I finally moved out of mapping (thank jah)! Now that I'm out of mapping, I've moved on to help the 2D artists with animating the flashbacks. Speaking of flashbacks, I think progress last week has been really slow. Not because we have been working slow, but because we've only had like 1-2 team members in per day. Me being one that was there the entire week... But back to the flashback I'm working on. I've made the storyboard and environment, and also had to re-learn human anatomy and how to to play basketball. So now I can start animating this week, which I hope to get pretty far on. Well, sorry for the short post everyone. I couldn't do much (team-wise) this week, and I barely started animating. But I hope to see you all again next week. Wow, I can't believe we're almost 10 posts in.
Hi everyone, and welcome back to another writer check in. Last week went by very slowly, yet also a bit hectic. I had finished the main road and other roads (finally), which I finished earlier into the week. I still went around checking the 3D models (which looked good by the way). So after I finished the map, I was a bit aimless. It took a bit for the 2D artists to hand me an animation job, which then ended up in confusion. Basically, I took a job (animating one of the flashbacks), and one artist missed the cue and started working on that flashback the I was supposed be doing. So then it was handed to me to animate, which fell on the day where I had an assessment to take, so I ended up studying that class period (and others, not just this one). Then Friday... I wasn't at school and was busy the entire day. Well that's all I have for last week, hopefully this week will be more productive www. Finished map below: yes I know it looks the exact same, I had to verify it with my team lead before completing it. |
